Summary/Abstract: Counseling has traditionally been performed following strictly the postulates of specific theories. The integrated approach, however, is increasing in popularity and importance when it comes to the practice of counseling. It involves combining different techniques and technologies, as well as the ideas of different theories and approaches, and has demonstrated its utility and effectiveness. With the integrated method, the limitations of a given counseling approach can be overcome through the contribution of the advantages of another, which is beneficial to the attainment of practical objectives in counseling. The use of the “keykis” method in psychoanalysis forms the backbone of our practical experience. It makes it possible to identify the defense mechanisms developed by the personality and overcome them with the use of counseling. This is necessary as defense mechanisms warp the individual’s perception of reality and hinder the establishment of harmonious interpersonal relationships.
