Summary/Abstract: Political leadership seems to be one of the fundamental concepts of the social sciences. The crisis of liberal democracy has brought numerous changes in the relationship between the leader and the followers. Crises have affected many areas: social trust, political communication, political elites, the economy and so on. With the emergence of new populisms, a new paradigm of new leadership has also appeared. When analyzed in evolutionary terms, we can identify traditional leadership (in the era before the mediatization of politics), marketing leadership (1980s and 1990s), and neo-leadership based on modern propaganda and associative communication.
