Summary/Abstract: The new folk music is an omnipresent trend in the time and the space we live in. It appears in every form of celebration and every single important step of our lives or transitioning custom (as а particular replacement of a former folk song) to shaping public opinion, the way of living, dressing, behaving… It is not only folklorism, it is a modern form of expression. The newly composed folk song is a distinguishingly syncretic work put together by very various materials, as an oxymoron whose structural contradictions cannot be embodied in a single theoretic model. It is characterized by an eclectic style and simplification of the tradition and the contemporary in a somewhat ungainly manner yet very spirited, indeed. These aspects are one of the fundamental marks of the spirit of postmodernity. Considering the media, this song represents a hyperreal and an imaginary reality because it captivates the audience by creating an illusion. The audience is always keen on idyllic reality and enjoying “the unreal” which brings material profit for the structures that create this reality in a consumer society. The popularity of the newly composed folk music can be displayed through all its segments: melodious voice, melodramatic performance, rhythm, beat/pulsation, joyful and singable melody, style, genre, theme in the song etc. In this music, people find meaning and values that are close to their worldviews. In this age of minimized domestic music production, streaming plays a major role. The music takes on an undesirable position at the intersection of creativity, media, audience and interests of dominant society structures. The circumstances demand production of more and more happygo-lucky desired themes that will provide a swift and easy-going contact with their audience. These themes are mostly focused on the wedding “music industry”, on the fast internet searches and views. The border between domestic folklorism and pop music has been breached by folk music (meaning the music for the crowds). However, this neither gives us a final answer nor guarantees what will become popular or unpopular, which contents will be widely accepted as popular or worthwhile and which of them will be partially received by a specific audience. There is nothing left to do apart from looking for new models with creative, yet desirable content which will have to filter through the folk crowd assuming the role of the former folk censorship of the folklore works though, this time, through the wide expanse of popular culture.
