The Appearance of Greek Destiny in Sándor Márai’s Novel ‘Embers’

Summary/Abstract: In my research I am going to analyze the various instances of destiny and fate in Sándor Márai’s Embers, since they play an important role in Greek mythology. In my view, the mythologically rich story created by Márai contains the characteristics of the Greek interpretation of destiny, along with Ananke, the Goddess of Destiny, the moiras weaving the yarn of destiny, and Eros, controlling destiny. Owing to this the unfolding of the philosophical tradition connected to Eros is going to be emphasized.
