Summary/Abstract: Anti-Americanism is a global phenomenon, which also gains different characteristics depending on a specific country or region. It is predominantly instigated by the economic and military supremacy of the United States, but also by the global dominance of American values and its culture. In Serbia, anti-Americanism became visible and dominant in the public discourse after the 1999 NATO bombing. The narrative about the “American enemy” often re-emerges during various political crises in the country, and one of them is undoubtedly the ongoing war in Ukraine. The research presented in this paper is focused on user comments on Facebook posts about the war in Ukraine of five most read Serbian digital media, in search for the anti-American discourse. This paper offers an overview of the discourse analysis of the mentioned texts and an insight on how anti-Americanism is manifested in the Serbian public. Prevailing narratives linked to anti-Americanism in the Serbian public discourse are detected and singled out, with the goal of better understanding of the development and the variations of this phenomenon throughout history.
