Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the definition of the class of adjectives in Standard Bulgarian in the normative grammar that adopts a functional approach to linguistic description. This approach is based on the distinction between form and semantics through the application of strict morphosyntactic criteria. The description proposed is focused on the representation of: the classification features motivating this word class; the subclasses of adjectives; their functional paradigm and structural features; the homonymy between adjectives and linguistic items from other parts of speech. In addition, the authors offer a discussion on a number of questions related to the description of the class.
