Summary/Abstract: On 2 July 1952, Gh. Gheorghiu-Dej called a meeting with the editors of local and central media in order to draw atention on exaggerations used by Romanian newspapers in order to reflect the personality cult of the Communist Party leaders, including himself. The criticism formulated by the secretary general, due mainly to the signals received from the paper “For lasting peace, for people democracy,” was limited to some outer aspects of the personality cult, whithout discussing fundamental issues.
