Summary/Abstract: The Securitate was mainly a oppressive institution created to totally and radically transform the Romanian society, relying on antidemocratic methods. Gradually, from traditional methods to strategies of manipulating people and control through terror simulation, the Securitate succeeded in creating the image of an omnipresent, omnipotent repressive institution.
