Summary/Abstract: Istanbul Memories and the City is a memoir published in 2003. In this work, Esma Hanım, the maid who works in the house where Orhan Pamuk lives, sometimes pleases him with an extremely affectionate hug, and sometimes gives Pamuk an uneasiness mixed with anger, as she takes every opportunity to establish a relationship with God. Ayşe Şasa, who lived between 1941 and 2014, is an important screenwriter who is remembered for her schizophrenia in her youth. The servants around Şasa, who has signed many scenarios in Yeşilçam, are interesting during her childhood and youth. As can be seen in her remarkable work titled A Spirit Adventure, which was published in 2009, the different perspectives of foreign servants and Muslim employees had an impact on Sasa. In this article, the lives of Pamuk and Şasa, who grew up in similar neighborhoods and families, will be discussed comparatively based on their works.
