Summary/Abstract: The introduction of the article briefly presents the history of the Discalced Carmelite Order of nuns, founded by St. Teresa of Ávila (1515–1582). It has the charisma for missions, and it is spread throughout five continents around the world. In Lithuania, the Order was established in the 17th century until its complete dissoluted in the middle of the 19th century due to the repressions of Tsarist Russia. Only at the end of the 20th century, after the restoration of Lithuania’s independence in 1990, did the opportunity arise for the order to be revived in Lithuania. The article describes the first steps of the restoration of the Discalced Carmelite Order in Lithuania, the return of the Discalced Carmelites to Lithuania in 1994 and the history of the establishment of Paštuva monastery; the cooperation between the local and international society and the Church; the impact and importance of the actions and initiatives of certain individuals and the significance of the restored Discalced Carmelite Order in Lithuania; also included are historical sources, facts, documents and testimonies related to the historic return of the Discalced Carmelite Order to independent Lithuania after 130 years of the forced exile.
