Summary/Abstract: For almost a quarter of a century, since October 30, 1923, when he became undersecretary of state at the Ministry of the Interior, until November 6, 1947, when he was sacked by the communists from his positions as vice-president of the Council of Ministers and foreign minister in the cabinet led by Petru Groza, Gheorghe Tătărescu was actively involved in this country’s politics. His activity at the time of Romania’s communization brought him accusations, first from the representatives of the traditional political parties and later from the communists he had cooperated with. He was arrested and imprisoned at Sighet in 1950.
