Summary/Abstract: The communist regimes meant, beyond the class struggle, which in their view justified repression, control over all aspects: socio-economic, political, cultural, military, and, last but not least, of the state security. Such a control was not supposed to miss anything, not even the individual’s privacy. So, a huge diversity of mechanisms were developed, meant to create submissive attitudes among citizens and to guarantee that discontent could never turn into direct opposition.
