Summary/Abstract: A member of the Legionary Movement until 1941, he went through the detention camp of Târgu Jiu. Dumitru Apostol organized in 1948 hit own anti-Communist resistance group, acting in the area of Valea Topologului. He was arrested by the Securitate in 1949 and in 1950 he was assassinated, after having been brought to his native village, Șuiei, to be "tried by the people." A member of the Country Council, Pantelimon Halippa intensely participated in the activity seeking to unite Bessarabia to Romania. In 1950 he was arrested by the Securitate, imprisoned at Sighet, then handed over to the Soviets, who deported him to Siberia. He returned to Romania in 1955, and he was imprisoned again at Gherla until 1957. Colonel Andrei Nasta distinguished himself in battle on the Eastern Front in World War 11, as he was the deputy of General Nicolae Dăscălescu at the command of the 21st Infantry Division. He was killed on August 31, 1941 in the Vakarzhani area. Pavel Ștefan was a perfect example of internecine fighting in the P.C.R. over a long period of time. Eliminated from the party in 1941 for "faction activity," admitted back in 1945, he became Minister of Domestic Affairs (September 1952-October 1953) and deputy minister at the Ministry of National Defense; he was again eliminated from the party in June 1958.
