Summary/Abstract: The Cold War developed in Romania after 1946 with the new Containment policy. This study is based on the development of the United States policy in Romania from de end of World War II until 1947-1948. The traces of American efforts to assert some measure of political influence in a region that was largely controlled by Soviet military forces, are presented.. The study demonstrate how U.S. policy planners sought to undermine the Soviet Union’s influence by manipulating Romania politics and by supporting anti-Communist Party’s control of the country.
