Summary/Abstract: Ioan Dănescu (1892-1941) Colonel loan Dănescu distinguished himself in combat on the eastern front. He led the Eighth Cavalry Division in the fight on the Dniester river and then in the campaign north of the Sea of Azov, where he died as a hero on October 2, 1941. Rozalia Farcaș (1908-1994) School teacher at High School no. 9, with a Hungarian curriculum, in Bucharest. She was arrested on March 18, 1961 on charges of “conspiracy against the social order,” under the pretext of enemy actions against the People’s Republic. She was sentenced to five years correctional prison. Ion Pelivan (1876-1954) A member of the Country Council of Bessarabia, Ion Pelivan worked enthusiastically in 1917-1918 to achieve the union of this province with Romania. He was arrested by the Securitate in 1950 and died in the Sighet prison in 1954. Theodor Petcu (1897-1957). A fighter for the union of Bessarabia with Romania in 1918, priest Theodor Petcu had to leave that province after it was occupied by the Soviets in 1940. In 1949 he was arrested in Bucharest and handed over to the Soviets, who deported him to Siberia. Repatriated in 1956, he continued to be kept in prison and died at Gherla in 1957. Mihail Moruzov (1887-1940) Head of the Romanian Army Secret Intelligence Service in 1924-1925, Mihail Moruzov distinguished himself in organizing that activity according to modem principles. He was assassinated by the Iron Guard at Jilava in 1940.
