Summary/Abstract: In this article, I analyze two poems as a starting point: “Una oportunidad”, by Fabián Casas, and “Qué es el mar”, by Sergio Raimondi. Both have factors in common: they focus on a definition of the sea; they recognize the theme of the sea as something hackneyed, worn out or excessively crowded in the poetic tradition; then, they propose their own definition; and, finally, both poems articulate a certain character of closure of the series, which enabled the question about how to write another poem about the sea that is not a simple repetition of what has already been said. Methodologically, the Deleuzian concept of cliché and its corresponding idea of diagram serve as a theoretical starting point to redefine these terms in the field of poetry and modify the logic of their scope. To this end, we put together a brief corpus of contemporary Argentine poetry that could be read as a response to the problem of the closure, as a restart of the series.
