Summary/Abstract: In recent years, it has come to the fore that official divorce is accepted as valid in fiqh, as it is between religious and official marriages. However, the religious divorce or official divorce is an experiential event beyond fiqh in which perceptual and emotional processes are active. Religious divorce continues as a phenomenon in society and individual life. Therefore, it is a problem how individuals interpret and perceive this phenomenon psychologically and religiously during the divorce process. The aim of the study is to determine the perceptions and interpretations of divorced individuals about official and religious divorce. In order to understand how the religious dimension of divorce is perceived by individuals and whether it differs from official divorce processes, divorced 5 female and 11 male participants (N = 16) were reached. In the study, in which the qualitative research method was used, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants and the obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that religious divorce is also considered important and internalized by divorced individuals like religious marriage, and while official divorce is perceived as a social reality and a necessary procedure, religious divorce is perceived and interpreted with a more existential and emotional dimension.
