Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to present the breeding activity of Antoni Bobrowski, a landowner from Snopków near Lublin. During his time (1854–1895), the estate, picturesquely located on the river Ciemięga, gained the rank of one of the best-known centers of horse breeding in the Kingdom of Poland as well as a center for specialist rearing of English pigs. Initially, Bobrowski dealt with breeding utility horses, and after years focused on saddle and breeding elite sled horses eagerly bought in the Kingdom of Poland and Russia. He started English pigs breeding in 1872 and achieved excellent results in this field, gaining the name of a pioneer and a distinguished breeder whose fame went beyond the borders of the Kingdom of Poland. He led exemplary breeding activity, awarded at many exhibitions, to death in 1895. So, I think that the figure of Bobrowski, a contemporary forgotten breeder, is worth recalling to a wider group of readers.
