Summary/Abstract: Starting from the case of foreign languages and literatures, the article analyses the transformations that philology underwent at the University of Bucharest in the first year of the reform of education according to the Soviet model. The reorganisation of studies, the introduction of analytical syllabi and the dean’s assessment of the first year allow us to observe the changes in the professional activity of academics who tried, in various ways, to adapt to the the constraints of the new political regime.
