Summary/Abstract: The quite thoroughly researched output of Adam z Górka Gorczyński (Jadam z Zator) have not yet been analyzed in terms of the local history on which it was based. The author of the article, dealing with the resources of the parish archives in Stryszów, analyzes Jadam’s works about the historical area of the Stryszów parish, whose patrons were the Gorczyńskis from the end of the 18th century. “Romantic from Brzeźnica” explained the present of small localities with their past, being interested in the problems of everyday life, customs and beliefs of local residents. Considering Gorczyński’s works through the prism of experience, the author divided his work into two phases, with the Galician Slaughter as the cut-off date. In this way, the causes and conditions of both stages were indicated, from Adam’s childhood experiences to his trauma after the Galician Slaughter and the shift towards organic work. In addition, the article presents the ways in which Gorczyński appreciated his family and its merits (e.g. for the parish of Stryszów) including them in the achievements of the previous owners of Stryszów or Brzeźnica, and, thus, inscribing his family and himself in the local history.
