Summary/Abstract: The process of learning a foreign language is influenced by various factors, including those representing the area of individual differences. In addition to cognitive factors (language talent, optimal age for learning SL, etc.), affective factors influence language acquisition in interaction with the context in which the language is learned. This paper aims to familiarize foreign language teachers with the latest research on the concept of motivation and how using motivational strategies and various teaching methods to encourage the development of critical thinking can enable students to acquire language and language content more easily, interestingly, and successfully. Faced with a new concept of teaching due to the rapid development of technological achievements, it is noticed that the traditional way of learning and teaching languages, where „drilling grammar” is the most frequent teaching activity in classes, is still not the only possible and the only most successful one. What is offered to students through the school system of learning foreign languages is in some way overcome in both methodological and technological terms, and that type of teaching should be easily replaced by introducing new models and methods for the development of critical thinking, which directly affects students’ motivation and the success of the teaching process.
