Summary/Abstract: The subject of reflection in the article is the reception of Pan Tadeusz by Adam Mickiewicz. In order to investigate it, the author conducted an anonymous questionnaire among students of primary and secondary schools in Gdańsk, Wejherowo and Wiślinka. The collected material shows that the respondents do not treat the world of Pan Tadeusz without reflection, but reinterpret the values shown in it and depart from the typical interpretations of understanding the behavior of literary heroes. The analysis of the collected results leads to the conclusion that the way to revive the classical literature in the school space may be a departure from the classroom schematicism in favor of non-stereotypical creative work conditioned by students’ opinions, judgments and reflections.
