Is there a method in this madness? Discourse on the conflict in relations between Croatia and Serbia 2014–2018

Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the conflict discourse in bilateral relations between Croatia and Serbia to determine whether local politicians use it deliberately and what the potential consequences of their actions are. Critical discourse analysis is an interdisciplinary method approach in linguistics and social sciences. The most important part of the article is to place the statements of politicians in a sociopolitical context of the international relations and the internal situation in the two countries. The key material to be analysed will be the rhetoric of the current Serbian president A. Vučić and his followers and the former president of Croatia, K. Grabar-Kitarović.
