THE POSSIBILITIES OF A HIGHER QUALITУ OF LIFE

Summary/Abstract: The quality of life is becoming in our days one of the significant categories both of the sociological theory and of the development directing of individual societies and the mankind in its entirety. The author singles out several relevant elements in the above respect which describe the notion of the quality of life. Firstly, this is the system of natural environment where the man lives and works, and this is an universal element and at the same time a world problem. Secondly, this is a system of human social surroundings which is characterized by the constituent elements of the global society, namely of the state, meaning economic security of people, full employment, apartment and health security, education and schooling, the possibility of expressing one’s own values and beliefs through political and other freedoms. And, finally, this is the system of human individual specificities, namely the man’s micro-system. According to the author, in order for these phenomena to be analyzed in a scientific manner, one should view them both from the standрoint of the society in general and of the possibilities of society, as well as from the viewpoint of the individual within that society.
