Summary/Abstract: After 1945, Wrocław was an architectural and urban planning laboratory in which spectacular visions and real needs often clashed. The University, also suspended between expectations and ambitions and the need to fight for its position among other universities constantly, played a vital role in this process. Concepts realised or shelved, projects lasting many years and plans modified during construction, depending on changing political and economic conditions – all these elements make up an important part of the history of Wrocław University’s development and are also an important part of the history of Lower Silesian architecture.
