Summary/Abstract: Gestures play an important role in generating new ideas and help solve problems in a creative way. The results of the recent research indicate a lot of benefits of using codified gestures technique during a foreign language class with beginners. What is more, it has been proved that scenic learning has a positive effect on the new vocabulary retention, motivates students to learn and encourages them to express their emotions, reinforcing openness to new experiences. The following paper aims at describing the role of the two techniques in English language learning and teaching based on a research conducted among several dozens of pupils in one of the primary schools in Wielkopolska.
