Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to compare the names of Czech and Polish cafés and confectioneries located in towns with between 10,000 and 20,000 people. In the first place, the Polish lexems kawiarnia and cukiernia as well as the Czech kavárna and cukrárna in terms of their semantic capacity are compared. The main part of the analysis includes 180 Czech and Polish urbochrematonims studied in terms of their structure, onomastic motivation and values promoted in names, inter alia using previous publications written by Patrik Mitter, Zuzana Hlubinková, Adam Siwiec and Artur Gałkowski. The analysis shows inter alia numerous similarities in the naming of Czech and Polish places serving coffee, as well as the impact of urbochrematonims present in large cities on smaller urban centers.
