GENDER EQUALITY – FUNDAMENTAL VALUE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

Summary/Abstract: A fundamental value of the European Union, gender equality continues to represent an aspiration for the achievement of which a coherent legislative policy at the European level is necessary, doubled by sustained efforts of each individual EU member state. The present analysis aims to analyze the issue of equality between men and women mainly from the perspective of the gender equality index developed by the European Institute for Gender Equality, as well as of the strategy proposed by the European commission.
