Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses position of male authors in the context of contemporary men’s fiction. Men’s notion of love and exposure of intimacy are being discussed within the domain of intercultural relations of contemporary Croatian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature. Paper will try to answer the question whether the lad lit is a response to popular female chicklit. Basic stylistic and thematic characteristics of male fiction will be discussed in the case of two authors: Krešimir Pintarić and Goran Samardžić. Also, this paper addresses questions regarding when and why this phenomenon of lad lit emerged on a global level and how it is being manifested in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Croatian literature – can we speak about full manifestation of phenomenon or just about a few attempts in the male fiction prose.
