Summary/Abstract: Language advisors, along with spelling books, grammar books and dictionaries as the basic linguistic manuals, are important factor in preserving the norms of the standard language. The Croatian language advisors gained a greater role in the 20th century. Due to the moment of their publication, they can be divided into four major periods. The central part of the paper is related to the description of the syntax in the language advisors of the 20th and the 21st century
