Summary/Abstract: The issue of applying a neptical hermeneutics to Scripture can be developed, at least, on two levels: an anthropological one, in close relation with the Pauline anthropology, and a more extensive level, which includes the first one, namely, the ecclesiological space. Neptic literature, both as a whole and from the anthropological perspective in particular, represents a living expression of the consequences of man’s encounter with God. There is, in this regard, at least one common point between the New Testament and the Neptic tradition, namely, man’s desire, expressed through faith, to meet and know God. The experience of God in the Neptic tradition is not only internal to the Bible, but represents its core. The Pauline anthropological paradigm is otherwise found in the whole tradition of the Church, from hymnography, hagiography, iconography and in the entire liturgical space, to its teaching as a whole. The Holy Apostle Paul’s episode of being caught up to the third heaven (2Cor. 12, 2-4) marks the most consistent and explicit Pauline testimony of a divine, supernatural experience. This unique experience constitutes a turning point in the Pauline anthropology.
