Summary/Abstract: In the current conditions of secularism and desacralization, biologizing morals succeed in promoting the power of hedonistically oriented human instincts, separated from the Court of conscience; a fact that results in an unprecedented proliferation of divorces, as well as the tendency to dissolve the traditional family. Hence, the need to plead in favor of saving the marriage, the family and implicitly the ethnic identity by promoting the Christian teaching on the indissolubility of marriage. Thus, based on the Holy Scriptures, the apostolic tradition, the teaching of the Holy Fathers and the church legislation, it is specified that the indissolubility of marriage enters into the divine order of life, intended to ensure the unity of the family which represents the basic cell of society, with the purpose of procreation and communion of spouses helping and supporting each other as well as abstinence from fornication. Even if the divorce was accepted only in the case of adultery, the indissolubility of the marriage has priority, so that family unity can be restored through the repentance of the wrongdoer and the forgiveness of the injured spouse. Raising the sacrament of marriage to the level of unity between Christ and the Church, although a second marriage was accepted in case of the death of one of the spouses, still the widowhood was recommended... The Church did not reject the second marriage, considering the weaknesses of human nature which “carries within itself the wounds of sin”; but the reservations about the third marriage were maintained... In order to support the indissolubility of marriage and to combat divorce, the mission of the Church will be focused on the education that should be given to young people who wish to marry, following the apostolic exhortation to seek to renounce all form of selfishness, showing mutual goodwill and trust, both in the joys and in the difficulties inherent in family life, always letting love and conjugal communion triumph.
