Summary/Abstract: The present article is an exegetical essay regarding the painting of the Brăila cathedral. The cathedral was painted by the master Grigore Popescu. Saints are represented with thin and long figures with eschatological significance. Although the patronal feast of the church is not the Pentecost, this theme or other related ones can also be discovered in many parts of the iconographic program. The theme that can surprise and delight the most in the iconographic program of the church is the theme of holiness. The theme of Jesse’s Tree is extended to the entire synaxar of Romanian holiness.
