Summary/Abstract: This article will rivet our attention on social media. It analyses twitter posts written by Polish youth organisations of parties represented in the Polish parliament. It explores the question about the discursive status and performance of Europe and the European Union. The research is conducted in a discourse-linguistic perspective: on the one hand, the study is based on the discourse-linguistic topos concept (Wengeler 2003) and, on the other hand, it also takes into account the discourse-linguistic multi-level analysis model DIMEAN (Spitzmüller/Warnke 2011). The article characterises selected phenomena at the level of actors i.e. actors being part of the analysed discourse and the mediality of the said discourse. Two analytical categories are used to describe the actors: their positioning in the discourse and the sociological category of generation. Mediality manifests itself, on the one hand, in the form of the communicative behaviour of actors on Twitter and, on the other hand, in the specificity of the tweet as a form of communication. The article also refers to the intratextual level by identifying the dominant topoi in the analysed excerpt of the discourse on Europe and discussing their linguistic realisation.
