Summary/Abstract: Faith in the Romanian Gulag: N. Steinhardt and the Kierkegaardian Religious. This essay proposes an incursion into the spiritual and ideological affinities between Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard and Romanian writer Nicolae Steinhardt, applying some key concepts of the former to the work (and biography) of the latter. Starting from episodes or reflections that are constitutive in the architecture of his Jurnalul fericirii, the essay will present the ways in which notions such as paradox, resignation, freedom, sin, courage or anguish, all semantically recontextualized in the Kierkegaardian paradigm, materialize specifically in the way Steinhardt lived his Christian creed.
