Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the experiences of late' motherhood in Austria. While discussing her own experiences of pregnancy and birth, Gertraud Ladner also presents the situation of laws and medical care in contemporary Austria. Such details as tests and medical check-ups are interestingly intermingled with personal considerations about the status of motherhood and changes in the author's professional life. Motherhood is "a gift from God", a wonder the author shares with us.
