The Volksliste and postwar persecutions. Analysis of memoires-based stories of Vilamovians from the perspective of folklore studies

Summary/Abstract: Vilamovians, an ethnic group living on the borderland of Silesia and Lesser Poland, signed the Volksliste and after the Second World War were persecuted by Poles. Their stories about their experience told by Vilamovians contain various schemes of narration, where Poles from surrounding villages are presented as persecutors and Vilamovians as victims. Fabulized and folklorized memoires turned from a witness story into a consistent version accepted by the whole group.
