Summary/Abstract: In the context of military occupation, Russian pressure on internal factors of power (prince, boyars) has shown the way to promote a legal and administrative reform project. This was experienced during the occupation (1807-1812) and produced some reactions from native boyars in Moldova. This project reflects what is meant to Petersburg by “civilizing” and “stable order of things” as an alternative to the French revolutionary model for the western border territories of the Russian Empire.
