Summary/Abstract: Is it possible to talk about symbolic violence against people with intellectual disabilities while conducting occupational therapy workshops? Can the manner of organization bear the hallmarks of institutional violence? The pupils who play in music bands at WTZ do it with satisfaction, or are they involved in organizational procedures? People with disabilities are dependent on their caregivers and are subject to specific therapy procedures. They do not know their own rights and expressing their opinion are not seen as reliable. The essence of the therapy should be a systematic examination of the needs and the possibilities of the pupils leading to their development. Alongside the official treatment plans, there is a socalled hidden agenda, expressed through symbolic violence. Initially, the subject of research was to be mixed teams and teams composed exclusively of people with intellectual disabilities. For organizational reasons and accessibility, the research was limited to one team composed of people with intellectual disabilities, operating at occupational therapy workshops.
