Summary/Abstract: Almost everyone uses the Internet nowadays. Technical progress makes access to the computer network easier and easier. Children and adolescents especially often use the Internet to find answers to their questions. Each person uses the network for something completely different, but it has the same function for everyone – to meet the needs. However, too frequent use from the Internet can cause an addiction called Internetoholism. Material and methods: Source literature was used and research carried out using questionnaires and interviews. Results: Grade 3 students use the Internet very often, which in uncontrolled cases may lead to hikikomori symptoms. Conclusions: Special care and support should be given to students with hikikomori syndrome and to encourage them to spend their free time talking to their friends instead of surfing the Internet. By not controlling the time spent in front of the computer, we can lead to social isolation of those under our care.
