Summary/Abstract: In view of this age when cognitive processes affecting the whole future life of the child are formed, the teacher should choose this profession consciously and should be adequately prepared for it. The aim of the research undertaken was to determine the motives that currently guide students in choosing teacher. Material and methods: The study was conducted among 230 female students from three university centres in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Due to the issue under study and the research area, an author’s research tool was used, preceded by a pilot study and its validation process. Results: The research provided facts about similarities and differences regarding the circumstances of choosing teacher education. The majority of women from rural areas and small towns choose to study teaching. Conclusions: The results of the study showed that the vast majority of the female students surveyed choose teacher education deliberately for reasons that can be considered positive.
