The Expelled

Summary/Abstract: A review of Waiting Room.0 directed by Krystian Lupa (premiere: June 2011, Vidy-Lausanne Theater, Switzerland). Piotr Olkusz notes Lupa’s conscious formal tactics by which he plays various games with the audience’s habits of perception. They allow him to create variations on the theme of a borderline between two worlds: the theater and reality. As such, the director does not rest at showing his protagonists as expelled from social reality, but presents them as people beyond all linguistic or symbolic representation.
