Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the category of readerly pleasure and its variants in Polish critical and literary discourse. The author discusses the category of readerly pleasure developed by Roland Barthes, primarily in his famous essays “From Work to Text” and The Pleasure of the Text; he also reconstructs Jan Błoński’s views expressed in the programmatic essay Romans z tekstem [Love affair with the text]. The author argues that since the 1960s these approaches have become default points of reference in the perception of the category of pleasure in Polish literary criticism, even though they are often understood in an intuitive way.
