Summary/Abstract: Rosa del Conte. Eminescu or about the Absolute – Establishing Specificity in a European Context. The appearance of Rosa del Conte’s study, Eminescu or about the absolute in 1962 was an actual event because it implied an European recognition of Mihai Eminescu’s value. Besides the preoccupation for the Romanian culture, folklore and literature, Rosa del Conte set up high standards in foreign eminescology by means of a thorough analysis of the Romanian poet’s work, combining the genetic criticism with the daring argumentation of a thesis according to which the poetic sensibility of Eminescu filters the modern cultural experience in the vessel of autochthonous spirituality. The three parts of the analysis follow the main themes in Eminescu’s poetry, by studying the variants from a critique’s point of view the author herself described as a sympathetic reading, exhausting all the interpretative traces and all the levels of the text. Also, Rosa del Conte puts together in this coherent and well-documented demonstration the specific artistic and linguistic aspects in Eminescu’s poetry, and she retraces both the archaic and the modern cultural aspects by means of contextualization. Her study remains a necessary reference in eminescology, because of the accuracy, the erudition and the hermeneutic approach.
