R. Lafont’s work is a stimulating book which gives us cause for reflection on Latin, Indo-European, and languages in general. Some analyses are illuminating, but too many approximations, errors, and above all, an absence of evidence spoil this work. It is a « seminal » book: it spreads ideas but it does not represent a convincing synthesis because its author makes use of assertions rather than proof.
