Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the play by Zofia Nałkowska entitled Renata Słuczańska. The author analyzes and interprets the male viewpoints on two protagonists: Renata Słuczańska and Agnieszka Blizbor. In the story about an affair, the affair itself is somehow not crucial – more interesting are the men’s expectations and ideas about women (as sexual objects, as mothers or wives, as guardians of the hearth and home), which influence how they are portrayed. The play proves that not only Nałkowska’s characters are distinct but that her playwriting itself is also different from the known Polish plays from this period.
