Summary/Abstract: Starting with the question of how Critical Race Theory banning in U.S. and gender studies banning in Romania relate, this article invites social workers in academia and the field to reflect on the rise of illiberalism/ populist movements globally and their consequences for social work education, social work as a profession and the populations and groups social workers serves.
