Summary/Abstract: This article provides a comprehensive overview of European law and Ukrainian national law in the field of combating climate change. In the first part, the EU climate policy and law and some climate cases of the EU countries was examined. The focus was on aims, objectives and backgrounds of EU climate policy as a part of EU environmental policy. In addition, attention was paid on EU Climate and Energy Package as baseline of EU climate law and policy. The second part of the paper discusses legal issues of combating of climate change in the light of the Ukrainian national law. The author argues that EU-Ukraine Association Agreement has become a major impetus for the transposition of the EU Law and policy to the Ukrainian legislation in the field of combating climate change law. The Ukrainian government has formulated numerous strategies, guiding principles, and action plans that integrate the energy and climate sectors in an effort to harmonize the EU and Ukrainian climate policies. However, putting these plans into practice will take more time and effort.
