Summary/Abstract: Reading is an important ability for English language learners as it provides an insight into authentic grammar and vocabulary. In addition, stories exist because they are ways of thinking and knowing, of learning, organizing, exploring and controlling a variety of knowledge not only on language, but also on culture and civilization. It is essential that teachers offer students a variety of fiction and non-fiction materials that will assist them in hearing the rhythm of written language and build the understanding of the nuances of meaning that are useful skills for a certain category of military personnel that have to read authentic materials.
