Summary/Abstract: Steady economic growth and development, increase in the market openness and integration processes resulted in a significant improvement of the international competitive position of Polish economy. Thanks to that Polish companies became more willing to undertake foreign direct investment. However, a period of global economic crisis (although relatively less severe for Poland), was a strong incentive destabilizing capital flows. The purpose of this article is to examine the changes that have occurred in the structure of Polish foreign direct investment outflows as a result of the global economic crisis. Industrial and geographical structure of Polish FDI has been examined. Moreover, FDI outflow has been broken down into investment in equity of foreign entity and intercompany loans. The study covered the period of 2005-2011 and was based on data from the NBP.
